AXS TV, which was launched in 2012, is reportedly negotiating broadcasting rights for festivals in which AEG has no ownership interest.

Stagecoach 2014: Susanna Hoffs Talks About Old Songs And New

Susanna Hoffs performs April 27 at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio. (Allen J. Schaben / Los Angeles Times)

Perhaps the most likely to act on Stagecoach Country Music Festival last weekend, Susanna Hoffs acknowledges that she does not keep up with the latest sounds of Nashville act. But Bangles singer and guitarist known for such pop MTV -era hits like "Manic Monday" and " Walk Like an Egyptian " has to do with the roots of the music - in his case, the influential mid- '60s folk- rock of the Byrds and Linda Ronstadt singing "Different Drum" with the Stone Poneys .

In 2006 , Hoffs recorded a version of "Different Drum" for the first of a series of album covers he has done with the power- pop veteran Matthew Sweet. And Stagecoach performed the song on a crisp drive show which also included "Hazy Shade of Winter" and Big Star "September Gurls” as well as new versions of some of the biggest hits of the bracelets. After his set, Hoffs, 55, answered questions backstage.

"Manic Monday" and "Eternal Flame" sounded great today - a kind of strange but beautiful, like something by the Velvet Underground.

Velvets were the band I learned in college as part of this wave of information coming to me at the time of my life. It is a very rich moment: You graduated from high school, but you do not have to live in the real world, however; you just get to have four years to make a lot of mistakes and learn a lot of things. I was a theater and dance major at UC Berkeley, and for me it was all about becoming an artist. I went to the music through the Sex Pistols and Patti Smith and Television, and then headed back to the Velvet Underground.

It is remaking his old songs about what is fun to play with them today?

Course. I did this live show " Portlandia " with Fred [ Armisen ] and Carrie [ Brownstein ] a couple of years ago, and I just told them to choose what they wanted me to do and I would. They chose "Manic Monday" and "Sunday Morning" [ by the Velvet Underground ] , so I went to the sound check and had this cool reverb on my amp and started playing this type alternative "Manic Monday" version , and I just started jamming . And I had this idea that just because the song was recorded in a certain way does not mean I have to play is always the case; do not have to live in that box. So when we were rehearsing for Stagecoach, we were playing with it again and it's a little more Rolling Stone - sort of “Honky Tonk Women”.

4 Major Differences Between Stagecoach And Coachella

Festival Goers cool -off stage while dancing in the Do Lab at Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio on Friday, April 11, 2014. (Photo by Watchara Phomicinda / San Gabriel Valley Tribune)

The differences between the Music Festival and Coachella Valley Music Festival Stagecoach Country are more than just country music acts and indie / hip- hop / electronic dance music.

Is an obvious stage presence. The stars of the country in most cases, just seemed more comfortable in front of large crowds , often thanked the audience and shown more energy on stage.

For example, wind and dust was terrible Friday night headliner Eric Church but powered through about a two-hour performance.

"You mind if I play a couple more songs? They said it was too windy, but they can kiss my (expletive)," he said before repeating.

Compare this with Pharrell Williams simply stopped singing towards the end of its windy and dusty set and pointed the microphone towards the audience to sing instead.

Even the greatest acts of diligence as Wanda Jackson, who at age 76 would not be considered strong, held the crowd in the palm of your hand telling stories about legendary musicians such as Elvis Presley and Jack White.

Coachella wins this by a deserted island. Actually there were no guests at Stagecoach except a hologram of Kelly Clarkson (or other players already in the account diligence as when Florida Georgia Line appeared on stage with Luke Bryan). But Williams won the Super Bowl as Coachella with guest Nelly, Gwen Stefani and Jay Z, Usher and TI the weekend two.

Coachella also triumphs in celebrities. Of guest artists like Jay Z, Beyonce and basically everyone on stage Williams non - artists as actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman Jared Leto and actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Sure, Stagecoach collected this year as celebrity couple Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis was famously in attendance, but it just did not seem Stagecoach had the same star power.

While both festivals 'll see on bikini women and members shirtless Stagecoach find those same looks in cowboy boots , cowboy hats (including cowboy hats made of cartons of beer) and the suit of the American flag and Confederation . Coachella is ... uh ... hmmm ... printed pants, tank tops and people wearing Native American headdresses.

I'm not a fan of the Confederate flag or the people who watch non- American with headdress Native American native, so I guess I can say there are two things I like about both festivals.

Coachella has more than 160 acts, while Stagecoach has much less than 100. There are six stages in Coachella ( Coachella Stage , Outdoor Theatre , Gobi , Mojave , Sahara and Yuma ) , and three stages in Stagecoach ( Mane, Palomino and Mustang ).

There are more than these differences obviously (Stagecoach had 177 total arrests while 80 arrests Coachella had its first weekend), but these are just the ones that come immediately to mind.

Either way you look at, with hundreds of thousands of people out of these facts, it seems that everyone wins in the desert when it comes to music festival months.

Warming the crowd before Bryan was Florida Georgia Line, we were actually in the audience for the Bryan group , and could do no wrong in the eyes of the fans of diligence.

Other events which gave strong sets include veteran singer / songwriter John Prine (having famous fans like Bob Dylan and Roger Waters) and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame star Wanda Jackson, considered the queen of rockabilly.

Earlier in the day, Charlie Worsham entertained the crowd joking between songs, but seriously playing guitar and banjo solos seamlessly Mane Stage.

Sleepy Man Banjo Boys, the young trio of brothers from New Jersey, showed off his musical prowess on fiddle, banjo and guitar, impressing audiences with performances effort bluegrass song after song on the Mustang stage. The crowd screamed for more, which forced timidly.

Asleep at the Wheel, also in the early stage of Mustang on Sunday, brought a solid and energetic performance was very busy with people dancing with partners and turning around their songs.

Blake Bolster, 27, of Canada said it was difficult for him to pick a highlight for the day, and he enjoyed every performance caught, but said the performance of Bryan stood out because “he has a great presence in the stage.”

Coachella Wraps Up; Organizers Prepare Festival Grounds For Stagecoach

Today is the third day of the last weekend of Music and Arts Festival in Indio Coachella Valley. And it seemed that the first two days were held without major incidents, according to Indio police spokesman Ben Guitron.

About 90,000 music fans flocked to the two weekends, total annual festival perennially packed.

The festival was marred by the death last week of 24 - year-old Truong pattern Kimchi, of Oakland, which collapsed at the Empire Polo Club Saturday and died on Thursday at the Desert Regional Medical Center. The Riverside County Coroner

Office said it could take up to six weeks for autopsy and testing to be completed.

After the pop music lovers go home, the gardens are transformed into a place of country-western of the three-day Stagecoach festival next weekend, Guitron said.

"They will change the whole area in a Western environment,” he said.

Motorists should prepare for road closures and traffic delays through tonight and again next weekend, according to the city of Indio.

They are closed :

- Avenida 49 between Hjorth and Monroe streets ;

- 50th Avenue between Madison and Jackson Street ;

- Hjorth between Avenues 49 and 50; and

He said officers work hard to maintain the flow of traffic, especially on Monday in light of traffic jams caused by people leaving the first weekend of the festival.

“Drivers have to be very careful and avoid distractions. Dangers of traffic and collisions that could be minor problems in most of the days in the Coachella Valley will become important issues," he said.

Information about the festival with other questions or problems,

the holidays will be a good memory after Stagecoach shows, Guitron said. “Ten days later, never know they were there.” Machines will be used to clean and groom the Empire Polo Club, said.

Coachella And Stagecoach Festivals May Expand To Five Events

Concert promoter reaches deal to stay in Indio 2030

Coachella and Stagecoach country music festival will remain in Indio, California through at least 2030 - and can develop from three weekends in five.

Yesterday, the City Council approved the Indian proposal for the promotion company Goldenvoice to organize and expand their range of festivals in the coming years, according to the Los Angeles Times. The agreement will allow Goldenvoice to stage two more shows in the fall -

One with a maximum capacity of 75,000 people, the remnant of a massive 99,000 people. Goldenvoice has not yet announced if they will organize events in the fall.

Coachella 2013 Lineup: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Phoenix, Blur, Stone Roses

Part of the agreement includes an increase in revenues from ticket Coachella and Stagecoach to share with Goldenvoice Indio. The increase of $ 2.33 to $ 5.01 for each ticket sold will be effective from 2014.

"Our tourist season starts in October and ends in April, so to start with two festivals and three end bookends would be great," said Dan Martinez, manager of the city of Indio. "He has a great support to city level. Really impacts our community greatly. A lot of people would like to see the number of festivals to expand. "

Coachella and Stagecoach have grown significantly in recent years; with the first one that now takes place on two weekends and three days recently at the second date. Estimates place the impact of the three festivals of Indian economy in 2012 about $ 89.21 million, while the city itself, just received $ 1,385,196 - a figure that could rise to $ 2,746,667 with an additional two fall events.

During the approval process, Goldenvoice also compiled an environmental impact report that was made available to the public. Although many residents complained of damaged property and Coachella goers who visit homeowners with “an urgent need to urinate and defecate in their pools," a majority of residents supported the introduction of the plan, many on behalf of their companies.

Last summer, it seemed that the future of Coachella in Indio was in danger when Councilman Sam Torres urged higher taxes on the income of the events of more than 2,500 people. At that time, Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett said he would increase ticket prices at about $ 36, a cost that did not want to pay the winner.
